I have always loved going to the movies.  There is something so magical to me, if only for 120 minutes, to be transported from my reality, my life, to the lives of those on the silver screen.

The first movie I remember seeing in the theater was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  I thought about that movie for a long time after that Saturday afternoon in the Whitehall movie theater.

Shortly after Joe died, John and I went to the movies.  I can’t even remember what movie we saw.  Sadly, the magic didn’t work that day, and I sat and cried for the two hours.  Fortunately, the movie magic is back.  Just yesterday, John and I saw Identity Thief.  It was quirky and silly, but we laughed and had a good time.

Last night we watched the Academy Awards.  My dream is to write an Academy Award winning screenplay.  I know, a lofty goal, but, wow it would be wonderful.

I thought the show itself, was a little slow and sluggish.  The theme from Jaws, or something similar, was what the orchestra played when the acceptance speeches got a little too long.  Argo won best picture.  Ben Affleck’s speech was very nice.  Everyone looked beautiful.  It was a good night.

So, next time you need a break from your life, go to the movies.
