Turn! Turn! Turn!

The sun is creeping up over the hillside. The sky is blue and cloudless. It is a beautiful morning. John has just told me that the temperature outside is -5. Schools in Pittsburgh are closed. We are sitting in the middle of winter, for sure.

This afternoon we have a sales rep. from a decking company coming to give us a quote to replace our pool deck. That sounds funny to me. The thought of swimming in the backyard seems ridiculous to me now.

There is definitely a time for everything. I love the song sung by the Byrds, back in the day. “Turn! Turn! Turn!”

To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to build up, a time to break down.
A time to dance, a time to mourn.
A time to cast away stones.
A time to gather stones together.

This makes me think about how changing our lives tend to be. If you have troubles in your life, hang in there. This is especially true for the teens we love. It is hard for them to see anything beyond the weekend. It is hard for us to express to them that this too shall pass.

If today finds you sad or worrisome, take a deep breath. Just like the frozen water in my swimming pool, things will change.

Life is Good.

Life is good.
