Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Today is John’s favorite holiday. The word on our street is that Mr. Kimutis has the best candy bars! I love watching John pass out the candy every year. He is the sweetest, kindest person I know. It is only fitting that his main ingredient is sugar. Happy Halloween!

Happy Fall!

I just LOVE this time of year! Changing leaves, crisp air and big sweaters. I saw this, and it said it all! LOVE! Happy Friday!

A turtle in Target.

I cannot sleep. The wind and rain are so loud. Everything seems bigger in the middle of the night. I have never been someone who can just lay in bed for a long time, struggling to fall asleep. I always get up and do something. Sleeping is difficult when I am having leg and knee [...]

Stranger in Target.

This is the latest that I have ever written my blog. I have a new morning routine. Now, instead of coming downstairs right away, I go in my room that I call my Lechner room (It is full of the furniture that was once in my parents living room.) I sit in my chair, pray, [...]

Need for empathy.

EMPATHY – noun the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. I love the word and actions of empathy. If the world could have more of one thing, it would be empathy. When you have the ability to stand in someone’s shoes, feel their pain, and be empathetic, well that is a good [...]

In the now.

I work very hard at staying in the present. I saw this quote and felt I must share. “Your life is right now! It’s not later! It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here. It’s not when you’ve moved into the new house. It’s not when you get the [...]

Be prepared.

Two months from today is Christmas. I already have much of my shopping completed. I don’t do this because I am efficient or overly prepared. I do it for self-preservation. As long as I can remember Christmas preparation has given me great anxiety. Now, the fact that my maternal grandmother died on Christmas day when [...]

Make a difference day.

Today is National “Make a Difference” day. With that said, I want to thank everyone who is donating hats, gloves and scarves! Each year the Joseph Kimutis Memorial Fund collects these items to help warm the heads and hands of the less fortunate in Pittsburgh. Because so many of you are helping to make a [...]

A great memory.

When I logged on to my computer this morning a photo popped up as a memory on Facebook. This is the photo. I remember this day SO clearly! The kids were both so excited. I also remember that Joe wore that head every day for a LONG time after Halloween. Once, while wearing it to [...]

You are what you think.

I believe that the last thought you have before you fall asleep is the thought that rests comfortably in your subconscious until you wake again in the morning. So, if that is true, the last thing I do is give thanks. I also take a few minutes to visualize my life as I want to [...]
