Pain is self-chosen.
I saw this was my blog from a few years aMy very favorite poet is Kahlil Gibran. One of my favorite books is The Prophet. I first read that book when I was in the eighth grade. If you haven’t read it, you should. There are always copies available at the Half Price Bookstore. I love the written word. I love when the words are formed and twisted in a way that make you stop. Think. Kahlil Gibran was a wonderful talent at doing just that. I woke up today with the words, “pain is self-chosen” stuck in my head. I love this quote.
“Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility: For this hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen…”
Kahlil Gibran (1883 – 1931)
