The end of 2017.

Today finds us at the end of 2017. There were many firsts and lasts this year. In January Sadie had the opportunity to meet her birth family. Spend time with the roots of her tree. While it is sad that the circumstances were difficult, it was nice seeing her tree grow new tree branches in [...]

Happy Winter.

It has been so bitterly cold lately. That is not my favorite part of winter. I woke in the middle of the night and could hear something hitting the windows. It was snowing. I love waking up to a white wonderland. John took this photo of Bob the Snowman who sits in front of my [...]

Last weekend of 2017

It is super duper cold again today. I didn’t leave the house yesterday, but that is not possible today. Since my arm is in a splint I can only wear vests or my ponchos. Not a great idea with these temperatures. John is home today. Maybe we can pick a few paint colors today and [...]

Stay in the moment.

Wow, it is COLD here in Pittsburgh! I think I am staying in the house today. I have the fire place burning and I am resisting the urge to take down the Christmas decorations. Once Christmas day is behind us I am always anxious to put the decorations back in the attic. I love putting [...]

Law of Attraction

I really like this article on the Law of Attraction by Madison Taylor One of the most wonderful abilities we have is the ability to make choices. We can choose to think positive thoughts or negative thoughts. Likewise, we can make an effort to ensure all our actions contribute to positive outcomes or we can [...]

A good Christmas.

Christmas is a memory. We had a few great days with family and friends. The gifts are unwrapped, the carols are sung and the cookies are eaten. For many people now is the time to exhale. I loved all of my gifts. John and Sadie did a great job this year. I will say that [...]

Two bright lights.

It is predawn early. I am awake and downstairs. John and Sadie are still asleep. I am happy that she spent the night here. I like having my two birds in the nest. I have not looked out the front window yet, but I just heard the rumbling sounds of a snow plow. My back [...]

Loss and the Holidays.

Thirty-one years ago this morning I received a phone call from my mother. My grandma, my dad’s mother, had died. Just one year earlier, on Christmas morning, my other grandma had died. It is hard to believe that all of these years have gone by. I think of these two strong women this time of [...]

Before Christmas.

Well, the gift bags are all filled. I’m ready for Christmas! I usually LOVE to wrap presents. With a broken elbow that was just not possible this year. It is raining and getting colder. It is a good day to stay inside and watch holiday movies. All is well.

Your words.

This is such a busy time of year. Lists of errands as long as your arm. Traffic, long lines and short patience. Slow down. Take a deep breath. Don’t lash out. Words are things, I’m convinced. Watch your words. Are your words peaceful or weapons? Watch the words you speak in your home. Words, sit [...]
