My little friends.

Yesterday, I went to a birthday party for one of my friends. It was a packed house, lots of laughter, great food and a lovely cake. A good time was had by all.

My friend, Riley, is now four years old. A few weeks ago I helped her parents for a few days by picking Riley up at preschool. We had great conversations, shared laughs and I thoroughly enjoyed her company. I had forgotten how much I love spending time with little children.

Riley is my great niece. There were seven of my great nieces and nephews at the party. Now, when I was a kid I remember my great aunt and uncle as being old people. Really old people. I don’t consider myself an old person.

I see my nieces and nephews so very clearly in the faces of their children. It warms my heart. They look so much alike. Watching the kids takes me back to a time when I was so happy to become an aunt. I was young when my brother and sister started having children. I loved spending time with those kids. Those kids who are now wonderful parents. Where did the time go? Makes me nostalgic.

I can’t stand that I cannot scoop up those kids and hold them. One of my goals for 2018 is to have a healing in my hands.┬áMake it possible for me to lift and hold the little friends in my life. Help their parents on those days that they feel stuck for childcare or just need a break. I would love to be able to help them with that void.

It was a nice day.

All is well.
