National Handshake day.

Today is National Handshake day. Handshakes always remind me of my dad. I remember when I was young, my dad taught me how to shake hands. He said it should always be firm and make eye contact with the person. My dad taught all of his grandchildren how to shake hands. Now, those are great [...]

The Caring Place

Last night I went to a dinner for the volunteers who work at The Caring Place. The Caring Place is a center for grieving children, adolescents and their families. John, Sadie and I went to the Caring Place after Joe died. John is now a volunteer at the Caring Place. I am proud of him [...]

Just do it.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is step out of your comfort zone. Take a leap of faith. In the words of Nike, Just Do It. That is where I am right now. Moving forward can be both exciting and scary. The unknown can be the same. The last thing I want is to [...]

In my dreams.

I had a dream last night that I was sitting in a rocking chair. I was holding Joe. He was a little guy, about two years old. It was the middle of the night. Joe’s breathing was deep and raspy, asthma breaths. I rocked him slowly, singing Blackbird, by the Beatles. My kids loved that [...]

National Selfie day.

It is National Selfie day. We have been taking selfies here for as long as I can remember. Our very first picture together, is a selfie. We worked together and we got a new Polaroid camera and were trying it out. Take pictures!

From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command [...]

A great day.

Today looks like it is going to be another great day. Yesterday, was perfect. We enjoyed the sun, swimming, laughter, friends and of course the dads. Sadie and I are both very grateful for John. I think he enjoyed his day.

Father’s Day.

It is Father’s Day. When I think of my dad, I smile. That is a blessing. This is one of the earliest photos I have of my dad with me. My dad was a kind and caring man who taught me many things while he was here. My parents always worked for themselves with an [...]

NO worries.

I know so many people who are worried about the future. Some are worried about their elderly parents. Others are worried about their young children and teenagers. There are even a few who are worried about both. There is nothing we can change by worrying about it. “Each of us need to withdraw from the [...]
