I cannot believe it.

I cannot watch the news. I cannot stand what is happening in Texas. I cannot believe that our government is doing this to children. I cannot believe there are people who think this is okay. I cannot believe this is America.

Our Lady.

The New Colossus Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command [...]

A great day.

Today looks like it is going to be another great day. Yesterday, was perfect. We enjoyed the sun, swimming, laughter, friends and of course the dads. Sadie and I are both very grateful for John. I think he enjoyed his day.

Father’s Day.

It is Father’s Day. When I think of my dad, I smile. That is a blessing. This is one of the earliest photos I have of my dad with me. My dad was a kind and caring man who taught me many things while he was here. My parents always worked for themselves with an [...]

Beautiful day.

I spent yesterday floating in my pool. I listened to music, prayed and meditated. I feel closest to God in that bucket of water. I feel great today. Fortunately, the weather is permitting me to do the same again today. Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day.

Flag day.

Today is Flag day. I always think of my parents when I think of the flag. My parents were the most patriot people I have ever known. They were even married on July 4th. My dad placed a large flagpole in the center of their backyard. The flags that they purchased were flags that had [...]

I am a junk picker from way back. My first apartment contained, with exception of my bed, all previously owned furniture and household items. Back then it was the Pennysaver where I would find furniture. Garage sales were a weekend thing for me. Yesterday I went to the Our Lady of Grace school gym. I [...]

Being Home

I read this quote about “Being home” – “Everybody has a home team: It’s the people you call when you get a flat tire or when something terrible happens. It’s the people who, near or far, know everything that’s wrong with you and love you anyways. These are the ones who tell you their secrets, [...]

Pride Parade

Yesterday thousands of people showed up to the Pittsburgh Pride Parade to march for acceptance and equality. John woke up early, put on his UPMC “Believe in Yourself” t-shirt and he headed to the city. John works at UPMC where he is a training specialist. He works with people in the UPMC Center for Engagement [...]
